Captain Action in the New Issue of TV Guide  24 Aug 00
The Captain really gets around.  Check out the Aug. 26-Sept. 1 edition of TV Guide.  Here's a brief description of what you will find (thanks to Michael Eury, author of the upcoming book "Captain Action: The Original Super Hero action Figure):

Frank DeCaro's "As Seen on TV" feature (on page 7) spotlights the Green Hornet, and includes photos of Sideshow Toy's new Green Hornet and Kato figures, a pic of Playing Mantis's new window-boxed Green Hornet for Captain Action uniform (describing the Captain Action "dolls" as "figures that, with interchangeable outfits, can be many characters"), and a quote from Playing Mantis head honcho Tom Lowe.

After the Playing Mantis announcement, there has been alot of speculation regarding the future of Michael Eury's long awaited book "Captain Action: The Original Super Hero Action Figure".  Here is the latest news release directly from the publisher Studio Chikara:

Captain Action Custom Costume Contest!  14 Aug 00
This is just a heads up for all of you out there who are into doing custom work for Captain Action.  In the next few weeks we will be putting together a contest to find the best Captain Action custom stuff out there.  We are still working out the details but we intend to have two categories, one for the "pros" and one for us regular guys.  There will be prizes for all who enter and we will be posting all the pictures that we receive.  So if you have a custom Captain Action creation that you have been wanting to share with the world, send us a pic!  Details will be announced as we put them together but in the mean time fire off a JPEG to me and I'll start posting the entries.  Gamesandbeyond@Gamesandbeyond.com
