Snow Day results in temporary insanity   25 Jan 00
Day one:  The gail force winds and accumulations of ice and snow have left us trapped for hours.  We have been forced to eat two members of our party.  In order to deal with the growing insanity we have been performing unnecessary updates to the website, and we even added a couple of Zeroids.

New Vintage Captain Action Web feature at Games and Beyond! 21 Jan 00
The toughest part about completing a Captain Action collection is locating and identifying all those tiny bits and pieces you need for your sets.  Well, we feel your pain and in order to aid you in your quest we are starting a new series of pages in which we will not only identify each item from every set, but provide you individual pictures and info on each and every piece.  Just to give you a little taste of what is to come, here is my personal favorite, The SPIDER-MAN!

Captain Action, The Original Super Hero 20 Jan 00
For those of you who have seen your order for this book canceled, there is no need to fear.  The book is still being published.  Author Michael Eury explains:

Captain Action WILL be published by Studio Chikara, and soon -- the target date is late April. The book is no longer a Diamond Comics exclusive.  The Diamond orders from the September Previews solicitation were to low to warrant it being an exclusive.  (That means for those of you who ordered the book through comics shops, those orders have been canceled.)  Soon the CA book will be offered for sale through a variety of venues, including a re-solicitation by Diamond.  It will also be sold in collectibles shops, on Amazon.com, and directly from the publisher.

Vintage Action Boy Uniform Box Art? 17 Jan 00
OK I have a few things in the works including our first ever Action Boy costume boxes.  What I need to complete these is a pic of the side of one of those boxes to use as a guide.  I have managed to piece together some pretty good box fronts, top, and after much work, the back.  So if you have a box or just a 3/4 pic that shows a side I could have these done before weeks end, just drop me an Email.

PLaying Mantis continues its series on the History of Captain Action 16 Jan 00
In case you haven't been following it, PM has been doing a very cool history of Captain Action on their web site and they are up to part 3, the end of the C/A line.  They also mention the Red Skull, which is still available on our "For Sale" page.  Check out the latest in this series by following this link:
A Look at the Rise of the Captain, Part III

Phantom and Kabai Singh costumes have been reviewed 14 Jan 00
Yeah, Baby, YEAH!  Looks like I'm back in the 60s again and its a very groovy time.  PM takes retro to the next level with these shagadellic window boxed costumes.  Lots of info, lots of pics, and best of all one man's opinion.  Not to let the cat out of the bag (its not my bag, baby), but these have earned our very highest rating, five Aliens!  Find out why by going to the review section or taking this shortcut:
The Phantom and Kabai Singh Review

Phantom and Kabai Singh costumes have arrived!  12 Jan 00
We have just received word that the new Captain Action costumes are in stores.  Laurie Parker has provided this description:

The costume boxes look very much like the vintage boxes, measuring 15"x11"x2.25" like Ideal's. The Phantom face mask is airbrushed with darker flesh color to make highlights.  The knife is plain without the skull on the handle.  There is a body dummy but there are no cardboard inserts in the legs.  There are silver and gold highlights on the belt and rifle.  The stripes on the shorts are just painted on, unlike the black plastic strips on the original set. Other differences are along the lines of the other sets, thicker boots, and smaller scale accessories.  The Dr. Evil / Singh is really well made along the lines of the Ming the Merciless set.

The Green Hornet and Kato get a Facelift?  11 Jan 00
Gwen over at PM tells us that in addition to being repackaged in the traditional window style boxes, the Green Hornet and Kato could be undergoing some changes.  Here is is in her own words:

The Green Hornet and Kato costumes (which should still be out around the end of April) are going to feature two part masks. So there will be the face mask, and then the eye mask separate. As for who's face the mask will be - they won't be the likenesses of Van Williams and Bruce Lee (too expensive to license). They will be brand new, original sculpts. As for the accessories - Green Hornet will come with the Gun Holster, the Stinger Cane (with an added length), gas mask, telephone scanner/receiver, hat, shoes, shirt with tie, pants, coat, and socks, AND. . . the pocket watch!!   Kato has pants, sock, and jacket (revised design - not sure how, but slightly different I guess), throwing star, radar watch, three part staff, cap, shoes AND. . . hornet darts!!

Phantom and Kabai Singh costumes are coming in this wednesday  10 Jan 00
Our local Diamond distributer tells us that he will have the Phantom and Kabai Singh window box costumes on Jan 12th!  Does it get any better than that?
