Superboy Uniform and Equipment for
Action Boy. Excellent two window horizontal display box. The
set comes with a Face Mask, Suit with Cape, Belt, Boots, Interspacial Language
Translator, Telepathic Thought Scrambler, and Superchem lab.
|
|
Superboy's Uniform is a one piece
body suit, blue and red, which snaps in the back. The Vinyl cape
is permanently attached to the shoulders and has a small slit at the top
to make is easier to put on the figure.

A close up of the logo on Superboy's
suit. Its the same as the one used on Superman,
black and red printing on gold foil. As with most of the Ideal Logo's
it was printed on a thin metal foil, which gives it a brilliant appearance.
The drawback is that once it is wrinkled it stays wrinkled forever.
You can flatten them back out but they are never the same. Loose
suits tend to have bends and dings in the logo.

 |
Superboy's face mask. The mask
may have come in a white lipped version, although I have only seen the
version with pink lips. Unpainted eyes, and the characteristic "spit
curl" on the forehead.
|
 |
Superboy's boots, red plastic.
The left and right boot are identical and interchangeable. Come to
a small "V" shape at the top front.
|
|
Superboy's belt. Yellow rubber
with red painted "S" on the buckle. Identical to the belt in the
Superman
set, except that one had a blue painted buckle.
|
 |
Interspacial Language Translator.
Silver painted plastic with blue and yellow accents. Ornate shoulder
harness with a variety of controls, an antenna and a microphone and earpiece.
Useful during encounters with alien races who for some strange reason do
not speak english. Yes, despite what Star Trek has taught us, they
are out there. Very fragile arrangement of pieces, just about any
part of it can be found broken on many examples.
|
 |
Superchem lab. White plastic
with multi color painted details. Appears to contain a Flask, Beaker,
Bunsen Burner, Battery, Microscope, and a huge variety of pipettes and
distillation hoses all terminating in a control panel. Made famous
on the cover of the OFP
catalogue, in a somewhat varied version as part of Dr Evil's arsenal.
The maze of thin tubes make this another fragile and often broken item.
|
 |
Telepathic Thought Scrambler.
Silver painted plastic with black and red accents on the lightning bolts
and top. Very useful during encounters with alien races who are telepaths
(Star Trek was right with that one). Apparently prevents them from
reading your mind. Comes in especially handy in the presence of a
telepathic six breasted Orion slave girl.
